Edible Homemade Cake

Last night for some reason i had the urge to make a homemade chocolate cake. Now let me point out i wanted to make a red velvet or carrot to which my husband replied "yuck I'm not gonna eat that" so rather then eat a whole cake myself i decided to make something my husband would eat! I looked up some different recipes and finally decided on a yellow cake recipe from a blog called Bakerella. (www.bakerella.blogspot.com check her out she does awesome things!!!) She had recently posted this cake recipe and it looked really good! I made three layers and then found a simple chocolate frosting recipe on another website (which i cant seem to remember so sorry whoever came up with this and is getting no recognition cause its sooo good) i couldn't stop licking my fingers!!!! I noticed while taking the pics that its a little lopsided but since this is My first homemade cake that is edible I'm o.k. with that! i just love how big it is! Enjoy!

Moist Yellow Cake

1 cup butter/ 2 sticks (room temp)
2 cups sugar
4 large eggs (room temp)
3 cups sifted self rising flour
1 cup whole milk (room temp)
1 teas vanilla extract
1/2 teas butter flavor (i couldn't find this so good luck!)
Preheat to 350
Grease and flour three 8 or 9" cake pans
Using mixer cream butter until fluffy
add sugar and cream for 7 mins (thank goodness for kitchen aid mixer)
add eggs one at a time and beat well after each one
Add flour and milk alternately to butter mixture beg and end with flour
add vanilla and the impossible to find butter flavor
Put batter into pans and bake 25-30 mins (mine took the entire 30 mins)
cool in pans for 5-10 mins then take out and wrap in plastic wrap and cool completely
this keeps cake moist!
Choco Frosting
2 and 3/4 cups powdered sugar
6 tablespoons unsweet cocoa powder
6 tablespoons butter (room temp)
5 tablespoons evap milk
1 teas vanilla extract
Sift together sugar and cocoa
Cream butter until smooth
Gradually beat in sugar mixture alternating with evap milk
Blend in vanilla
Beat until creamy and smooth (u can adjust consistency with sugar or milk but i didn't need to)
FROST CAKE!!!
This turned out great but i had to double the recipe to be able to cover the whole cake but i did have quite a bit left over so u might wanna just do one and a half!! Let me know if anyone try it!!

OUCH!!

Today i did something i have wanted to do for a long time!! I am normally a HUGE CHICKEN so i have been scared to do it forever! 4 friends and i drove all the way to 5 points to Caribbean Connection to get my NOSE PIERCED!! I was soo scared when i sat down in the chair. I was shaking and sweating uncontrollably! In the end it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be!! Don't get me wrong it hurt but it wasn't the cry out loud hurt i thought it would be! enjoy a few funny pics of me and a few of my friends getting things done also!!

u scream i scream we all scream for ICE CREAM!

Last night walking through my favorite store (target) i decided i needed an Ice cream maker. i didn't want to spend a lot so i went with a rival 24.99 model! Cheap but advertised this machine was easy, and easy it was. Scott doesn't eat ice Cream, nor any other dairy product for that matter, so he wanted nothing to do with it. That is until the churning was making it hard to hear his star wars game! haha anyway i made blueberry flavored that started with a mix. It was actually very easy all i had to do was take the mix stir in the milk, pureed blueberries, and lemon juice and pour it in the maker. It was soo good i took it to burger king for a few people to eat and they all seemed to love it! Mrs Janice said she had one comment! BUTTER PECAN! so maybe that will be my next flavor. i just loved how purple it looked it was really beautiful.

Growing @ the Davis'

Scott ,who always pokes fun at "my little blog", asked me to post on his tomato plant so i decided to just update the progress of all our plants. They all seem to be doing well i just wish they would start producing some veggies! Hopefully soon ill have tomatoes, peppers and flowers to show.

this is Scott's hanging tomato plant that has buds on it so hopefully it will do its thing soon!
this pepper plant had more then tripled in size but not even the starting of a pepper so we will see!


and last here is my Plumeria that is looking awesome but still no flowers!!

Orlando Hair Show

This past weekend we went to Orlando for our annual trip to the Premiere Hair Show! For those of you who don't know what a hair show is, its basically a reason for a bunch of hairdressers to get together and have a great time with a little bit of learning in between! It was awesome other then the RAIN!! every time we would lay by the pool it would be beautiful and sunny and then the black cloud would come! oh well we had a blast anyway! here are a few pics from the weekend!

Happy Birthday Nae Nae

i know this is so silly but i guess this is what people that dont have kids yet do! MY family and i celebrated Shanae's 1st birthday! All of her cousins and Aunt Maybell came over to help with her big day!!

White Trash Birthday

Last Saturday night West 200's Massage Therapist Lori Scott celebrated her birthday in a very funny way. Lori after many accusations decided to have a "white trash birthday" This was probably the best birthday i have ever been to. Everyone had to dress up in their version of white trash! After long debates of what we should go as scott and i decided on our costumes! i would be pregnant and smoking and scott needs no explaining!! The day consisted of "yard volleyball" , mud-fighting, a water slide and low country boil! People dressed up were sooo funny! one guy had shorts on so short we could almost see his manly hood! thank the good lord he stood most of the night! Hope u enjoy just a few funny pics from the night!

i just hope this isnt a sign of what im gonna look like prego cause this is bad!!!
and here's the b-day girl. her shirt said im not 30 im 29.99 plus tax! too funny!

doesnt get any better then a grape popsicle and a cig! lol j/k i dont smoke but it went with the night! and u can almost see my rose tattoo on my arm in this one! Stephanie's addition to my outfit!
